BHS volleyball celebrates season at banquet

BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji High School volleyball team recently held its post-season banquet where awards were handed out and players recognized after the 2017 season.

BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji High School volleyball team recently held its post-season banquet where awards were handed out and players recognized after the 2017 season.

Letterwinners on the team included seniors Brooke Hildenbrand, Addie Colligan, Jenna Lewis, Makenna Quinn, Paige Sundvall, Lexi Wade, Anna Falldorf and managers Abby Lauderbaugh and Morgan Lechuga; juniors Kenzie Christiansen, Emma Muller, Mikerra Matthews and Rumer Flatness; sophomore Taylor Wade; and freshman Emily Wade.

Statistical leaders for the Lumberjacks this season included Colligan with team-highs in serve percentage (98.7), hitting ratio (.342) and sets (767); Quinn with a team-high 26 aces and a team-best 2.04 receiving ratio; Lewis with a team-best 243 digs; Lexi Wade with team-highs in kills (340) and kills per set (3.91); and Falldorf with a team-leading 55 blocks.

Quinn and Colligan were each voted team Most Valuable Player, Taylor Wade was selected Most Improved Player and Lewis received the Hustle Award. Sundvall and Flatness were the winners of the Lumberjack/Coaches Award.

The team was also recognized for being named Academic Gold All-State for posting a team GPA higher than 3.75. BHS had a team GPA of 3.81.

Lewis and HIldenbrand were named Academic All-State Seniors for attaining GPAs of 3.8 or higher.

Lewis, Quinn and Colligan each took home Captain Awards while Muller and Flatness were named captains for 2018.
