GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The Bemidji State women's hockey team led by Alana McElhinney in net shut out the North Dakota Fighting Sioux 1-0 Saturday night at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
The win was McElhinney's second of the season along with her second shutout. She had 17 saves in the game.
Bemidji State (10-15-7 overall, 9-10-7-3 WCHA) moved back into fourth place in the WCHA standings with the win and can hold that place if Wisconsin loses to Minnesota State University, Mankato on Sunday.
The Beavers wrap up the regular season next weekend against Minnesota-Duluth in Bemidji and if BSU can finish the regular season in the WCHA top four, it will host a first-round playoff game at John Glas Fieldhouse Feb. 27-28.
The first period of play had the Beavers outshooting the Sioux 9-4, but neither team could find the back of the net.

The second period wasn't much different, except for North Dakota controlled the shot department in outshooting Bemidji State 9-5. BSU successfully killed off three penalties in the second.
With 1:05 left in the game UND's Candace Molle was called on a minor roughing penalty.
BSU defenseman Kierstin Visser took a feed from Montana Vichorek with 19 seconds left and beat UND goalie Stephanie Ney over the shoulder for the game winner.
