On Sunday BSU began its southern trip with two wins, nipping Hannibal-LaGrange 2-1 and stopping Simmons College 5-3.

Summer Monsrud scored Bemidji's run as she singled in the fourth, stole second, gained third on an error and scored on a ground ball.

On Sunday BSU used strong pitching and late inning heroics to win the two games.

Crystal Bowen's walk-off hit bounced off the wall six inches underneath the outfield fence and lifted the Beavers past Hannibal while Kayla Babinski hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to vault the Beavers over Simmons College.

"We really relied on strong pitching again," said head coach Rick Supinski. "So far this season it has been our pitchers who have carried us and we are just hoping for runs to come across. We need to improve our play at the plate as we continue to progress this season."

Tennis

The Bemidji State tennis team dropped the opening match of its spring trip to Orlando Sunday when it fell 9-0 to South Dakota.
