The Bemidji State University soccer team announced Wednesday the signing of Bronwyn Boyd, Stephanie Challes, Elizabeth Erickson, Samantha Lumberg, Maria Mcleod, Danielle Steele and Jessica Voeller to National Letters of Intent.
Boyd, Challes, Erickson, Lumberg, Mcleod, Steele and Voeller will join the BSU squad next fall.
"This class possesses a really nice mix of technical ability and athleticism," Bemidji State head coach Jim Stone said. "It will give us a little more freedom to diversify our style of play and change games through substitutions, while still staying within ourselves and playing the game how we believe it should be played. It takes years to evaluate a class, but I highly expect this one to be very good."
- Bronwyn Boyd, midfield, Bemidji:
Boyd lettered in soccer at Bemidji High School for three years. In her junior and senior years she received all-conference honors as well as being named Bemidji High School's MVP-Midfield for both years. She was team captain her senior year and also led her team in scoring while playing from the center-midfield position.

"I've always liked Browyn," Stone said. "Ever since she started coming to our camps she has shown that she is hard-working, respectful and full of potential. I'm excited that she is joining our program."
- Stephanie Challes, forward, Andover:
Challes played five years for Andover High School, lettering in three of those years. Her summer club team, the North Metro Crushers, won its division two years in a row.
"We pride ourselves on hard work and you won't find a player that works as hard as Steph," Stone said.
- Elizabeth Erickson, forward, Zimmerman:
Erickson played four years at Zimmerman High School where she split time between forward and goalkeeper. At Zimmerman she ranks third on the all-time goal scoring list with 11 goals. She also holds the four school goaltending records.
"I think in a few years this player is going to surprise a lot of people," Stone said. "She has the potential to be a great back to goal player who can score goals. I think we've found a hidden gem."
- Samantha Lumberg, defense, Woodbury:

Lumberg was part of the 2008 Woodbury High School squad that went undefeated and claimed a state championship in 2008 and was runner-up in 2009.
"Sam is as nice as she is talented which is saying a lot," Stone said. "To sign a player that was on the no. 1 ranked high school team in the nation says a lot about our program and where we are headed."
- Maria Mcleod, midfield, White Bear Lake:
Mcleod played three years with Cretin-Derham Hall where she garnered all-conference, defensive MVP, and all-sectional team honors her junior and senior years.
"Maria is a highly technical player," Stone said. "She is the type of player who if she is on her game can run the show and set the tempo through good ball distribution."
- Danielle Steele, midfield, Mankato:
Steele lettered in soccer at Mankato East High School for five years, where she received all conference honors, all-conference honorable mention and all city honors.
"Danielle brings a great personality to our team," Stone said. "She's the type of player that makes you better from the inside out."

- Jessica Voeller, forward/midfield, White Bear Lake:
Voeller lettered in soccer for four years at Hill-Murray High School. While being the captain of her team, she went on to win conference championships her senior and junior years.
"Jess comes from a great soccer family," Stone said. "She's been well prepped and brings a creative attacking mentality into our program."
