Olszewski National Player of the Week
LIBERTY, Mo. - BSU true freshman defensive back Gunner Olszewski had a record-tying day against Minot State last week.
That was enough to earn him a national defensive player of the week honor from the website D2Football.com. Olszewski was selected for the award after earning the NSIC’s defensive player of the week award on Monday.
Olszewski tied BSU’s single-game record of three interceptions in a 32-7 against Minot. He also led the team in tackles on the day with eight, four solo and four assisted, including one tackle for a loss of six yards.
Olszewski now ranks second in the conference and ninth in the country in total interceptions this season with six.
Olszewski is the first Beaver to earn a national player of the week award since D2Football.com named safety Brody Scheff the defensive player of the week on Dec. 11, 2011.
