Bemidji HS boys hockey: Jacks hampered by penalties in loss to Moorhead

Bemidji spent too much time in the penalty box Tuesday night and failed to score in absorbing a 3-0 loss at Moorhead.

It gave the Spuds a sweep of their season series, winning here earlier 4-3.

Bemidji dropped to 12-10 and faces another major challenge Friday at Warroad,

It closes at home with Detroit Lakes and Thief River Falls next week.

Bemidji drew 10 penalties at Moorhead to five for the Spuds.

They scored a first period power play goal on a 5 on 3 situation and added two back to back tallies in a 38 second span early in the second period to salt the game away.

They held a 30-18 shots bulge on the Jacks with Axel Osborn turning back 27 in another good effort.

Tyler Larson, Lucas Melquist and Lucas Henry had the Spuds scores. Mike Bitzer made 18 saves in the net.

The B Team had another good effort, scoring single goals in the second and third periods to earn a 2-2 tie.

It left Nate Weossner's forces at 20-1-1.

Tyler Follis had both goals.

Miah Graves worked the first period in goal making six saves, Ben Schram turned back 11 in the final two., Cochran had 39 stops for Moorhead.
