BEMIDJI - Bemidji State men’s golf coach Ekren Miller announced the addition of Bemidji High School golfer Matthew Gregg to the BSU golf program for the 2016-17 season. Gregg signed a National Letter of Intent during the NCAA’s early signing period beginning Nov. 11. Gregg participated in the 2015 Minnesota State High School League State Golf Tournament as a junior for the Bemidji High School boy’s golf team, tying for 41st place overall, carding rounds of 41-41-38-39 for a total score of 159. 
He also competed in several tournaments with the Junior PGA events, highlighted by a first-place finish in Madden’s Pine Beach West Tournament as well as tying for second and a third place finish at Blueberry Pines Golf Course Tournament and Junior Championship Qualifier No. 3 at Pokegama Gulf Course, respectively. Gregg wrapped up the tour tying for 36th place at the 2015 Minnesota Section Junior PGA Championship. Gregg, who also lettered in hockey last season, was a member of the BHS team that also won the 2015 Section 8AA tournament. Stram an Academic All-American BSU soccer junior Sarah Stram has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America College Division Academic All-America Third Team for her efforts on the field and in the classroom. The Elk Grove Village, Ill., is the second member of the BSU soccer team to earn Academic All-America nod and the 22nd BSU student-athlete to be recognized with the honor. Stram, who was also a First-Team All-NSIC forward, is a chemistry major with a 3.97 grade-point average. In 2014-15, she was recognized as BSU’s Outstanding Analytical Chemist and was selected for BSU’s 2014-15 American Chemical Society Undergraduate Award. Pelzer player of the week BSU women’s basketball guard Aimee Pelzer was named NSIC North Division Player of the Week following the Beavers’ wins against Mayville State and Valley City State. Pelzer, of Upsala, averaged 20 points in an 82-61 win over Mayville on Nov. 17 and a 77-49 win over Valley City State on Nov. 21. Pelzer led both games in scoring, with a career-high 23 points against Mayville State on 7-of-13 shooting. She made 5-of-10 3-pointers, also setting a career-high. Against VCSU she had 17 points, went 3-for-5 from 3-point range and added four assists, one block and one steal.
