BLOOMINGTON -- Raeley Carney has started her collegiate career with a bang.
The Bemidji State women’s hockey freshman supplemented her strong weekend debut with the WCHA Rookie of the Week award on Monday.
Carney scored two goals in BSU’s 6-3 win over Lindenwood on Saturday, both of which came on the power play. In part to Carney’s efforts, the Beavers went 3-for-3 on the advantage, scoring three power-play goals in a game for the first time since 2016.
The forward from Wasilla, Alaska, finished the weekend series by firing four shots on goal, blocking two shots and posting a plus-1 rating on the ice.
Along with Carney, Lacey Eden of Wisconsin was named the WCHA Forward of the Week, Ashton Bell of Minnesota Duluth was the WCHA Defender of the Week and Jane Gervais of Wisconsin was the WCHA Goaltender of the Week.
