BEMIDJI – Bemidji State women’s hockey goaltender Kerigan Dowhy was named the WCHA Goaltender of the Week for Feb. 14.
The fifth-year senior from The Pas, Manitoba, collected 99 saves in a two-game series against No. 2 Ohio State, including a career-high 51 in Friday’s game against the Buckeyes. Her indelible kick save in the final seconds set up Paige Beebe’s game-winning goal with 0.3 seconds remaining. Dowhy earned an assist on the play.
Dowhy also recorded 48 saves on Saturday against OSU and credited teammates with helping her protect the net. BSU finished with 62 blocked shots for the weekend, 32 on Friday and 30 on Saturday.
Also on the WCHA Players of the Week team are Wisconsin forward Daryl Watts, Ohio State defenseman Sophie Jaques and Minnesota Duluth rookie Gabby Krause.
