DEEPHAVEN -- In recognition of a month where he largely stood on his head, Bemidji State men’s hockey goaltender Mattias Sholl was named the CCHA’s Rookie of the Month for March/April, the league announced Wednesday.

Sholl posted a 3-2-0 record between the pipes in March, boasting a .935 save percentage and a 1.79 goals against average. The freshman netminder helped the Beavers stave off elimination in three straight games and reach overtime of the CCHA Tournament championship game.

Sholl was also named the CCHA Rookie of the Month in January, and he earned weekly awards as Goaltender of the Week (Oct. 25) and Rookie of the Week (Jan. 10), as well. Sholl was also named to the CCHA All-Rookie Team following the conclusion of the regular season.

For the year, Sholl posted a 13-13-0 record in 26 games played and finished with a 2.75 goals against average and a .904 save percentage.

Minnesota State -- the national runner-up -- swept the rest of the league’s monthly awards. Hobey Baker Award-winner Dryden McKay was the CCHA Goaltender of the Month, while Brendan Furry and Akito Hirose were the Forward and Defenseman of the Month, respectively.
