MEN’S HOCKEY: Mattias Sholl, Elias Rosén named CCHA players of the month

Junior Elias Rosén was named Defenseman of the Month and freshman Mattias Sholl was named Rookie of the Month.

DEEPHAVEN – Two Bemidji State men’s hockey players were named CCHA players of the month on Wednesday by the conference. Junior Elias Rosén was named Defenseman of the Month and freshman Mattias Sholl was named Rookie of the Month.

Rosén, a native of Mora, Sweden, scored three goals and tallied five assists in January to earn his first CCHA monthly accolade. He recorded at least one point in five of BSU’s nine games and scored the game-winning goal at Bowling Green on Jan. 14.

Sholl, a native of Hermosa Beach, Calif., earned his first monthly award with 184 saves and a .902 save percentage in January. He posted a 2.75 goals against average and finished the month with a record of 3-5.

Other monthly winners included Minnesota State’s Julian Napravnik as Forward of the Month and Michigan Tech’s Blake Pietila as Goaltender of the Month.
