DENVER – A Beaver hockey legend will remain in the NHL for at least two more years.
Former Bemidji State defenseman Brad Hunt signed a two-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche on July 15, tethering him to the reigning Stanley Cup champions through the 2023-24 season.
The deal is worth $762,500 per season, according to capfriendly.com.
Hunt appeared in 50 games with the Vancouver Canucks during the 2021-22 season, posting 17 points on three goals and 14 assists. He has accumulated 76 points in 241 career NHL games since 2013 with Edmonton, St. Louis, Nashville, Vegas, Minnesota and Vancouver.
Hunt played for BSU from 2008-12, helping lead the Beavers to the 2009 Frozen Four during his freshman season. He collected 112 points during his four-year career, sixth all-time in Bemidji State’s Division I era and first among defensemen.
