ST. CLOUD – The Bemidji State men’s hockey team continued the good vibrations from Friday early on against No. 2 St. Cloud State on Saturday.
Facing the Huskies in St. Cloud, Mitchell Martan scored 2:17 into the game on the power play, giving the Beavers an early 1-0 lead. The well ran dry after that, though, and SCSU scored four straight goals to win 4-1.
St. Cloud State (7-1) answered Martan’s score in the second period with a power-play goal by Veeti Miettinen at 7:19, then took a 2-1 lead on Adam Ingram’s score at 14:12. In the third period, the Huskies kept the pedal down, as Jami Krannila scored at 8:56 and Zach Okabe added the capper at 12:03.
SCSU compiled a decisive 36-19 shots on goal advantage and earned the series split one night after BSU’s thrilling 3-1 victory at the Sanford Center.
Gavin Enright finished with 32 saves in goal for Bemidji State (3-2-1, 1-0-1 CCHA), while St. Cloud State’s Dominic Basse collected 18 stops.
