BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Bemidji State men’s hockey team refused to give up after going down 2-0 in the third period of its game against Bowling Green on Saturday in Bowling Green, Ohio. The Beavers scrapped away for two goals in the third, forcing overtime.
Unfortunately for them, it was the Falcons who snatched victory in the extra session, as BGSU scored first for a 3-2 win.
Coale Norris gave the Falcons an early lead with a goal just 3:27 into the contest, but it wasn’t until 4:20 in the third that another team scored. It was Norris once again, this time on a power play.
Down 2-0, BSU (13-11, 11-5 CCHA) negated half the deficit with a score by Owen Sillinger at 5:51, Sillinger’s 100th point of his career. In the dying moments of the period, Elias Rosén played the hero with a power-play goal at 18:06 to tie it at two.
But Bowling Green (12-9-3, 9-6-1-3 CCHA) took control once again in the 3-on-3 tiebreaker, as Sam Craggs scored at 2:08 to seal the victory.
