BEMIDJI – The Bemidji State men’s hockey team counted on graduating senior Owen Sillinger leaving after this season, but probably not his younger brother Lukas.
But it appears that time has come. Lukas Sillinger has entered the transfer portal, according to multiple reports.
The younger Sillinger just completed his sophomore season with the Beavers and has at least two seasons of college eligibility remaining, plus an extra eligibility year due to COVID-19 should he choose to use it.
Lukas finished third among BSU players in 2021-22 with 38 points (17g-21a). He played an integral role as the Beavers’ right winger on a top line with Owen and Alex Ierullo that combined for 127 points and helped lead Bemidji State’s charge to the CCHA championship game. Now, it looks like the Beavers will take the ice in 2022-23 without all three of those players, as Owen Sillinger and Ierullo have moved on to professional teams.
BSU has reportedly plucked two forwards from the portal this offseason – Mitchell Martan from Canisius and Lincoln Hatten from Army. Martan collected 22 points this season, while Hatten did not play.
