BEAVERS: Best named NSIC North player of the week

Bemidji State men’s basketball forward Ben Best was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division Player of the Week following his play on Nov. 24 and 28.
In games against Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota Crookston last week, Best averaged 14 points and nine rebounds per game.
Best scored 15 points in a 80-70 loss to the Golden Bears on Nov. 24, in addition to recording career-highs of 11 rebounds and four blocked shots. He added a team-high 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists in a 62-58 NSIC-opening victory versus the Minnesota Crookston.
The junior from Drummond, Wis., leads the team in scoring (13.6 ppg) and on the glass (6.4 rpg) five games into the 2015-16 season.
The Beavers (4-1, 1-0 NSIC), continue league play this weekend as it travels to St. Cloud State and of Minnesota Duluth on Friday and Saturday.
23 named Academic All-NSIC
BSU landed 23 student-athletes on the 2015 Fall Academic All-NSIC team.
The Beaver soccer team had nine players on the team, as well as seven volleyball players, six football players and a cross country runner.
To be eligible for the Academic All-NSIC Team, student-athletes must maintain a grade-point average of 3.20 or better, be a member of a varsity traveling team and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his or her institution with one full year completed at that campus.
