GIRLS BASKETBALL: Otters knock off Bemidji in 8-3A semis

MOORHEAD -- The Bemidji High School girls basketball team couldn’t pull off an upset Saturday night, falling 68-38 to second-seeded Fergus Falls in the Section 8-3A semifinals in Moorhead.

The Otters (22-4) doubled up the third-seeded Lumberjacks in the first half, and BHS was in a 32-16 hole by the break.

Fergus Falls continued to build its lead after halftime, as well, outscoring Bemidji by 14 en route to the 30-point win.

Mackenzie Nicklason led the Jacks with 11 points in her final career game, while Rumer Flatness and Lindsey Hildenbrand each added another eight points. Ellie Colbeck finished with a game-high 20 points for the Otters.

Bemidji finishes the season at 16-11 and graduates four seniors in Allison Beard, Rebecca Matheney, Flatness and Nicklason.
