MANKATO -- The Bemidji State baseball team fell victim to matching 9-1 losses on Sunday, dropping the back end of a four-game series against Minnesota State in Mankato.

The Beavers (2-20, 1-9 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) scored in game one through a Kade Nelson RBI single in the fourth, but it came in the aftermath of five Maverick runs and preceded another four from MSU.

In game two, Blake Huntley earned a bases-loaded walk in the fourth inning to put BSU on the board. However, Minnesota State (18-7, 9-3 NSIC) still had a 6-1 lead to worth with, and they tacked on three more by game’s end to finish off the sweep.

Bemidji State will be back on the diamond at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, for a doubleheader against Winona State in Winona.
