LONG LAKE -- The Bemidji High School baseball team pulled off a seventh-inning comeback to upend Orono 3-2 in Long Lake on Friday.
Hunter Olson drew a bases-loaded walk for the tie, and then Cole Tatro singled in Isaiah Biehn for the lead, which flipped a one-run deficit into the eventual one-run win.
The Spartans went ahead 1-0 in the second through an RBI single. The Lumberjacks (3-2) leveled the score on a sacrifice fly from Tatro in the top of the fourth, but Orono restored its lead on Evan Zamec’s solo homer in the bottom half of the frame.
Tatro was otherwise spotless on the mound, though, surrendering six hits and striking out seven in a complete-game effort.
Hunter Michalicek bunted for a single to start the seventh, and, on two outs, BHS then worked three straight walks to push across the tying run. Tatro’s hit served as the game-winner before pitching a 1-2-3 bottom half to close out the 3-2 win.
