ADA -- Behind the arm of Isaiah Biehn, the Bemidji Blue Ox amateur baseball team made some more noise in the Region 10C Tournament on Saturday night in Ada.

Biehn tossed eight shutout innings to stymie Hibbing, allowing Bemidji to prevail 5-0 and advance to Sunday night’s winners bracket final.

Biehn scattered seven hits and three walks while striking out eight to post zeroes for most of the night. Connor McNallan pitched the ninth frame for the Blue Ox, another clean inning that preserved the shutout.

Offensively, Bemidji got on the board with a four-run third inning. The Blue Ox added a loud insurance run when Ben Thoma cranked a solo home run in the fifth to jump in front 5-0.

The winner of Sunday’s game is guaranteed a top-two finish in the region and therefore a berth to the Class C state tournament. Sunday’s loser can still advance to state through the losers bracket, but they’ll also lose out on home-field advantage for the championship series on Aug. 13-14.
