SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Bemidji State baseball team rallied to tie Monday afternoon’s game but ultimately fell 6-5 to end a three-game series with Sioux Falls. The Beavers (3-24, 2-13 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) captured a 5-4 win in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday before dropping the second contest 20-2.

BSU served as the home team in the series after it was moved from Bemidji to Sioux Falls, S.D., due to poor playing conditions.

Bemidji State took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning Monday but trailed 4-1 through five innings. Tom Keohen cranked his first career home run in the seventh to narrow the deficit to 4-3.

The Beavers scored twice in the eighth to level the score at 5-5 on RBI doubles by Matt Kummet and Caleb Carlson before the Cougars (8-23, 6-12 NSIC) won with a solo homer in the top of the ninth.

BSU is scheduled to host Upper Iowa in a home doubleheader at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, field and weather conditions permitting.
