PARK RAPIDS -- The Bemidji High School boys swimming team used its depth to upend Park Rapids 106-80 in a dual meet on the road Friday night.

The Lumberjacks won just five of 12 events, but they picked up 23 of a possible 36 top-three finishes to claim the victory. Additionally, in all seven events where the Panthers took first, Bemidji followed with both second- and third-place finishes.

Leading the charge for BHS was Sam Hendricks, who took home individual wins in the 200 Free (1:56.03) and 500 Free (5:27.80). Hendricks also teamed up with Brooks Matetich, Luke Yartz and Walker Erickson for a first-place time of 3:46.50 in the 400 Free Relay.

Matetich won the 100 Fly with his 1:04.86 mark, while Jon Berglund was first at 1:04.94 in the 100 Back.

Elsewhere for Bemidji, both Yartz and Erickson picked up a pair of second-place finishes. Yartz timed out at 2:19.30 in the 200 IM and at 54.68 in the 100 Free, while Erickson clocked in at 25.82 in the 50 Free and at 1:19.44 in the 100 Breast.

The Lumberjacks will be back in the pool at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18, when they host Detroit Lakes at BHS.
