MEN'S BASKETBALL: SDSU tops Beavers in exhibition

BROOKINGS, S.D.—Derek Thompson had his second double-double of the exhibition season for BSU in a 86-63 exhibition loss to South Dakota State University on Saturday.

The sophomore scored 15 points and had a team-high 13 rebounds in the loss, while Logan Bader led the Beavers with 16 points.

In the first half, the Jackrabbits went up 26-13 but the Beavers came back with an 12-3 run to cut the lead to 29-25. However, turnovers cost BSU in the first half, as they led to the Jackrabbits taking a 48-36 lead at the half.

Senior Mike Daum led all scorers with 26 points for the Jackrabbits, while David Jenkins, Skyler Flatten and Tevin King all scored in double figures for SDSU. Daum also led the team in rebounds with 11. All time, the Jackrabbits are 6-0 against the Beavers.

Ja Morgan and McNallan each scored 9 points for the Beavers, who are 0-3 in the exhibition season this year.

Bemidji State will open its regular season at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, against Oak Hills Christian College. It is Bemidji Youth Basketball Night and there will be youth games before, during halftime and after the game.
