ERHARD -- The Bemidji High School boys and girls Nordic skiing teams each recorded top-two finishes at the Otter Tail Nordic Meet at Spidahl’s Ski Gaard in Erhard Tuesday. The Lumberjacks boys finished first as a team with 387 points while the girls took second with 383 points, just three back of first-place Alexandria.
Three Bemidji boys cracked the top five and half the top 10 was occupied by Lumberjacks.
Soren Dybing (15:32) finished 14 seconds behind individual winner Evan Storbakken of Brainerd to take second place. Zac Skoe (16:05) placed third for BHS while Nick Youso (16:19) took fourth, Sam Hodgson (17:08) finished eighth and Nick Palmer (17:29) ninth to round out the top-10 skiers. Other finishers included Logan Jensen (17:55) in 12th, Tommy Saxton (18:53) in 17th, Nathan Vleck (19:17) in 19th and Riley Schollett (19:34) in 21st.
Sadie Hamrin finished ahead of the rest of the field in the girls race, clocking a time of 18:16 to claim first 40 seconds ahead of the next skier.
Kinley Prestegard (19:07) and Gwen Youso (20:20) also posted top-10 finishes by taking third and sixth place, respectively. Other BHS finishers included Alyse Stone (21:07) in 11th, Demi Fisher (21:52) in 13th, Sarah Pollock (22:46) in 18th, Damaris Berg (22:59) in 19th, Lily Krona (23:11) in 20th, Shanna Eberwine (25:59) in 27th and Maggie Brown (30:22) in 31st.
The Lumberjacks will next compete at the Mesabi East Invitational at Giants Ridge in Biwabik at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6.
