VOLLEYBALL: Cass Lake-Bena sweeps Red Lake

CASS LAKE -- In Section 8A volleyball action Monday night, the No. 5 Panthers of Cass Lake-Bena swept the No. 12 Warriors of Red Lake 25-16, 29-27, 25-17 at Cass Lake-Bena High School.

Raquel Wilson led the Panthers attack with 11 kills, while Serayah Drouillard had 24 assists and three aces and Michelle Jourdain chipped in two aces of her own.

“When we actually set the ball up and our hitters were able to swing, we found ourselves getting quite a few kills,” CL-B head coach LeAnn Sattler said. “It didn’t really work very well when we would just send over a tip or a free ball. When we set up our hitters and our hitters were able to swing, we scored points.”

The win brings the Panthers to 8-14 on the year as they move on to face No. 4 Red Lake County Central in the second round.

“I think we match up pretty well with them,” said Sattler. “As long as we come out and play hard like we’re capable, I think that it should be an entertaining match.”
