BEMIDJI -- Some of the best curlers in the country will descend on Bemidji this winter.
The Bemidji Curling Club has been selected by USA Curling to host the 2020 Mixed Doubles National Championships. The event will take place Feb. 27 to March 1.
National champions and Olympians are expected to compete. 2018 Olympic gold medalist John Shuster teamed up with Cory Christensen to win the 2019 Mixed Doubles National Championship held in Seattle.
The Bemidji Curling Club was the site of the first Mixed Doubles National Championships held in 2008. Bemidji’s own Jamie and Nate Haskell won the tournament.
Bemidji most recently hosted the 2018 U18 National Championships, and previously hosted men’s national championships in 1980, 1996 and 2006, as well as women’s national championships in 1996 and 2006.
The winner of the tournament will earn the right to represent the U.S. at the 2020 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Kelowna, B.C.
