LAPORTE - Natalie Hadrava recorded 28 kills as Laporte volleyball beat Walker-Hackensack-Akeley in five sets on Tuesday.

The Wildcats (4-4) end their three-match losing streak which saw them lose to Lake of the Woods, Blackduck and Menahga.

Assisting Hadrava all night was Kalei Kerby with 37 assists. Also helping Laporte on offense was its 14 service aces, a team-high five coming from Lindsay Miller.

The Wildcats are off until next Tuesday, when they host Nevis.

Bagley hosted Norman County West Tuesday and got its first win of the season, winning 11-25, 25-23, 25-12, 16-25, 15-7.

Cassie Keough led the way for the Flyers (1-6), with eight kills, a block, two aces and 11 assists.

Bayli Dukek had nine, kills, an ace and 15 assists while Camille Merschman added seven kills, two blocks and 13 digs.

The Flyers travel to Win-E-Mac at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Bagley/Fosston hosts cross country meet

BAGLEY - The Bemidji High School JV boys cross country team took sixth in the Bagley/Fosston Invitational on Tuesday.

The Lumberjacks JV team scored 175 points; Pequot Lakes varsity took first with 67.

Neither Bagley/Fosston boys or girls teams had enough runners to score, but B/F’s Hunter Stai finished first with a time of 17 minutes, 45 seconds. Bemidji’s Riley Berg was the Lumberjacks’ top runner, taking 15th place with a time of 18:02.

The Flyers’ Amelia Landsverk was the top runner for the girls’ race, finishing in 20:01. United North Central won the team race with 70 points. The BHS girls did not run at the race.
