Items found in a park along the Mississippi River in Stearns County led to a three-day search for missing 6-year-old Elle Ragin, of Northfield. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office is asking residents along the Mississippi River to keep an eye and report any items that may be related to the search.
The route is dubbed U.S. Bike Route 20, but the public is being invited to help select a new name.

A family of five was shot to death in their rural Sunburg home in 1970. The confessed murderer, Neil M. Pladson, was sentenced to 25 years in prison. In 1987, Pladson was released to a halfway house. A year later, he was found strangled to death in his apartment. His killer, Douglas Tank, was his roommate and he told authorities that Pladson had threatened to kill the man's family while brandishing a knife. Tank said he knocked the knife out of Pladson's hand and strangled him.
Area hospitals are full, and health care providers are asking for the public's help in easing the burden from COVID-19 and other illnesses. First of all, please get vaccinated if you haven't already. Second, please continue wearing face masks, social distancing and hand-washing.
Daniel Sinclair Fragodt, 32, of Melrose, Minnesota, was sentenced to five years of probation following a plea agreement with the Stearns County Attorney's Office after he pleaded guilty to raping a former student.
