The family and friends of Katie Brommenschenkel Vilmo have established the Katie Brommenschenkel Vilmo Scholarship Fund, a component fund of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation.
Cass Lake-Bena High School student and Accelerators member Caraira Jensen was recently named a $500 scholarship recipient for the Northern Minnesota Robotics Conference Scholarship Program.
Student Caraira Jensen was nominated by her coaches for a design award. Linsey Strand and Matthew Wendland were the Section 8 recipients of coaches of the year.
Peter Aube and Kathleen Preece from Bemidji have been reappointed to the Minnesota Forest Resources Council, along with a first-time appointment of Michael Stansberry of Cass Lake.
To earn honors, a high school student must participate in a robotics program under the Minnesota State High School League and possess a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or higher for the current school year.
The field of 300 Chippewa Triathlon participants will take part in a 15-mile canoe route, a 29-mile mountain bike course and a 5-mile run. The triathlon can be completed solo or as a team.
