Cheer: BHS swimmers excel at state
Steph Frey brought home medals from the Class A state swim meet in Minneapolis. She pushed herself to school records in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 freestyle. Dedication and perseverance are the qualities a champion needs in any sport. We also congratulate Lexie Hendricks and Jana Hedstrom for making it to state. Qualifying to compete at that level is a major accomplishment.
Cheer: DARE officer
For 13 years Bemidji Police Officer Jon Hunt has worked in local schools as a DARE educator teaching children about the dangers of using drugs . He has also become a mentor for students, liaison between the kids and law enforcement and a counselor and sympathetic listener youngsters know they can turn to with their problems. Thanks and congratulations to Officer Hunt for years of protection and service.

A morgue in Los Angeles, Calif., has struck a new low in salesmanship. To boost profits, the business operates a gift shop where customers can buy such unique items, as water bottles marked "bodily fluids" and beach towels featuring the symbol of a chalk body outline. The coroner hopes to attract shoppers among the city's tourists.

The rifle deer season has wrapped up for the area. Hunting is a major economic boost for Minnesota. A safe and successful hunt is a boon for the area, fulfilling a noble tradition and keeping wildlife numbers sustainable.
