It is a quiet Sunday morning at our home just northwest of downtown Bemidji. Yesterday, (Aug. 13) I saw that there was another issue of the Bemidji Pioneer that did not have a letter to the editor printed in the issue. Why is that section empty? Are we all sheep?

I recently read a piece about leadership. The piece stated that Alexander the Great had the benefit of being tutored until he was 16 by Aristotle. Alexander, between the ages of 20 and 30, was undefeated in battle while amassing one of the largest empires to that point in history saying: “I am not afraid of an army of lions, led by a sheep. I am afraid of an army of sheep, led by a lion.”

So, are we a nation of sheep, or one of the lions? Are our leaders sheep or lions? I would hope that we have a few lions left in this great nation to step up to the plate.
