Recently driving south on the beautifully smooth blacktop of U.S. Highway 71, I felt moved to write into Bemidji Pioneer in hopes that some construction workers might read this.

THANK YOU! You all worked so hard and diligently this summer ensuring that we had a perfectly finished road before the first snowfall. I know the road constructed added extra time to commutes, and there is still an adjustment period while everyone learns how to use the roundabout, but you should all be so proud of the hard work you did.

Every time I drove past and offered a wave, it was always returned with a wave and a smile by the friendly Knife River crew. I still can't believe how quickly the work was completed and to such a high standard.
