One of the nicest things about Bemidji is the kindness of people toward our military veterans.

On Dec. 16, my husband and I were taking a lunch break at a local restaurant after visiting my dear mother in the hospital. A gentleman came to our table after noticing my husband’s Vietnam Vet hat. They chatted a bit and then this wonderful man said he wanted to pick up our lunch tab. I don’t know why I always tear up, but it happens, and I know my husband was deeply touched as well.

My husband served from 1966-69, and in Vietnam from 1968-69 (he always says: 3 years, 6 months and 26 days). He is my hero, as are all military people.

A huge thank you to this incredible man who stopped by to say “hi” and then so generously picked up out lunch tab. You lifted our spirits. Thank you.
