LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Politicians excel at doublespeak
The article in the Pioneer on April 10 concerning the former District 5A Rep. Matt Bliss, R-Pennington, who will seek re-election to the Minnesota House of Representatives troubles me ("Bliss seeks to regain District 5A seat in 2020").
He states that while in office he supported bills in the Legislature that resulted in $21 million for a new BSU facility and $12.5 million for a veterans home in Bemidji. "We did all of this without raising a single penny in taxes," Bliss said. Where did this money come from? Heaven?
This is precisely the kind of language used by politicians to confuse the public. Wasn't it people's tax money? Where is the responsibility of elected legislators?
He wants to run again?
