Virginia Tangborn

Virginia Dorothy Tangborn March 27, 1922 to May 18, 2020

On May 18th, 2020 our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother after 26 years has been reunited in heaven with dad, her husband of more than 50 years. Mom was born in Guthrie, MN to Nick and Susan Schmitt growing up on a farm with her family with three brothers and one sister. On September 6th, 1941 she married Ardell Conrad Tangborn and they loved and raised three sons, Douglas (Patricia) Tangborn of LaPorte, MN; Melvin (Kathaleen) Tangborn, now deceased; and, Dennis (Cynthia) Tangborn of Manson, WA. Virginia loved her four grandchildren, Nick (Rosemary), Julie (Bill), Don and Sarah (Paul) and four great-grandchildren, Cooper, Donita, Ariyah and Ariel. She also has many nieces, nephews and friends around the country.

Mom and Dad began raising our family in LaPorte, MN, farming and then managing the LaPorte Co-op.  After moving to Seattle, WA in 1956 many years were spent as a working mom in grocery stores.  Later a large part of mom’s life was spent in Granite Falls, WA where she and dad ran Del’s Auto Parts until retirement; and, they participated fully with the community. They enjoyed many family vacations together in MN and in later life enjoyed trips to Reno, NV. Mom’s battle with Dementia brought her to assisted living in Chelan, WA and the wonderful staff of Heritage Heights for the latter of her 98 years. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Ardell, son Melvin, daughter-in-law Kathy, brothers Earl, Eugene, Don and sister Irene. Mom will be laid to rest with dad at the Granite Falls Legion Cemetery later this year.

Rest in peace mom now that you are with Dad and Mel; we’ll miss you but you will always be in our hearts.
