Travis Claypool

Travis David Claypool, 42, of Bemidji, left this earth suddenly on November 21, 2020.
He was born December 5, 1977, the son of Greg and Karen Claypool. He attended Heritage Christian Academy through 5th grade and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1996. He married the love of his life, Lindsey Collyard, on September 9, 2006. Together they have been raising two children: Finnegan and Piper. He had many odd jobs over the years but found an innate love of the open road, especially from inside the cab of a large truck. He most recently found employment with the Beltrami County Highway Department from 2007 until taking a position with The City of Bemidji Street Department in October of 2020. He was also a volunteer firefighter, a title he was very proud of.
Travis was the kind of man “everyone knew” and “everyone loved”. He was a fierce provider and family man, taking great pride in the life he and Lindsey had built. Finn and Piper were his world, putting their needs far above his. Trav would change his agenda in a heartbeat for a friend who developed a need regardless of the requirements. His compassionate heart was exhibited through his skilled hands and his ability to tinker through a crisis, relishing in every minute of the process. He rarely accepted payment, but would never turn down a decent trade. A Jeep enthusiast and avid hunter and fisherman, he often took solace in the outdoors. He could sing, and knew every word to every song. He crushed karaoke. Travis loved a good joke and loved a bad one even better. His laugh drew you in. Life was enjoyed to the fullest, and he applied this enthusiasm to everything he did. There was no option to be lifted to a more positive perspective on the circumstances at hand when in his presence. Travis Claypool was one of the kindest people on the planet, a one-of-a-kind human, and he will be greatly missed by many.
Travis is survived by his devoted wife Lindsey, son Finnegan (13), daughter Piper (9), Parents Greg and Karen Claypool, Sisters Shawna Bodien (Gary) and Wendy Nelson (Erick), Grandparents Joyce and Jim Potts, 6 nieces and 9 nephews. Preceded in death by his cousin Evan Claypool, Grandparents Warren and Brenda Claypool, and David Westrum.
