Ronald Eugene Knox

Ronald Eugene Knox died on 12-22-2020 in Minneapolis. Ron was born in Minneapolis on May 8, 1939 to George and Alma Knox. In 1956 they moved to Bemidji, where he attended BHS and he graduated from the U of MHS. He spent that summer working on Hubert Humphrey’s first presidential campaign.
He continued his education at BSTC where he earned a degree in mathematics. Ron played football on the college 1957 Northern Intercollegiate Conference Co-Champions football team that was inducted into the Bemidji State Athletics Hall of Fame.
After graduation he was offered a job at Harding teaching mathematics, until he retired. During his tenure at Harding he spent several years coaching gymnastics.
On 12-29-1961 he married Lydia Kanyuck. They had three children, George, Derek and Jennifer.
He spent many hours on the lake which included trips to the Boundary waters with his younger brother, and son.
He took flying lessons and spent many afternoons and weekends with his brother George flying to small airports in MN.
Ron was a history buff (particularly the civil war).
Ron is preceded in death by his father George, his mother Alma and brother George Woodrow.
