Robert Leslie (Les) Manecke

91, Leslie was born February 21, 1930. He passed away on Good Friday April 2, 2021 at his home with his loved ones beside him.

He graduated from Bemidji High School in 1948 and Minneapolis school of Business. He was hired by Northern States Power Company in Minneapolis where he worked until he retired as a Principle Financial Analysis.  In 1951, he married his high school sweetheart. They were married for 69 1/2 years. He spent two years in the army and served in Korea as a Staff Sergeant. 

Leslie was preceded in death by his daughter Lynn Marie Avery, his parents Fred and Nellie Manecke of Bemidji and his brother Merle of Fosston, MN.

He is survived by his wife Vivian (Lyman) Manecke, his son Robert Manecke, his brothers Eugene Manecke of Fosston and his brother Paul of Bemidji, his sisters Marlene Hemker and Karen Mielke of Rochester, MN.

He had 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

After moving back to Bemidji, he helped his family build a resort, did security work and other part-time jobs. He was a great worker, always willing to help!

Leslie had a strong faith and loved to be with his church family.

A celebration of his life will be Tuesday, June 8th at 11:00 am at Bemidji Baptist Church 2130 Paul Bunyan Dr. SE. Lunch following the service.
