Marlys Rae Peasley

Marlys Rae Peasley, 81, of Blackduck, MN, died on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at her home.  A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the Evangelical Free Church in Blackduck, MN with Pastor Dwight Warden officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck.  Marlys was born on September 6, 1940 in Mora, MN. She was the 2nd of 5 children born to Raymond and Jennie (Obert) Dalbey. She attended schools in Mora, MN, Salem, OR, and Toleda, OR, graduating in 1958. In 1956, at the age of 16, she met Alvey “June” Peasley at the Friendly Café in Toledo. They were married at the 1st Baptist Church in Toledo on November 26, 1957. Together they had four children. Alvey worked for Georgia Pacific Plywood and saved money to buy a farm in Minnesota in 1966.  Marlys was a hard worker and began working as a Candy Striper at the age of 15, worked at the Newport Cannery, and after moving to Minnesota she worked as a cook for Headstart for 30 years. Everything she made was homemade and received an award for her Menus. She was a member of the Helping Hands Club and the Blackduck Evangelical Free Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, reading, gardening, and her many flowers and house plants. She would make clothes for herself and her girls and made quilts and baby blankets for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.  Marlys loved and accepted everyone she met as they were. She loved being with family and she gave the best hugs when you needed one. She loved Jesus with her whole heart and her greatest prayer was that all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren would know and love Jesus as much as she did.  Marlys is survived by her husband of 64 years, Alvey “June” Peasley; daughter, Barb (Dan) Harding; son Alvey Darren (Jackie) Peasley; 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 children, Frank Peasley and Darlene Coburn; a granddaughter, Stacy Bourman RedEagle; and sisters, Eileen (James) Nail, Claudia Peasley, and Cheryl Lamar.   Messages of condolence may be sent to
