Daniel “Dan” Ewert


Daniel “Dan” Ewert, 93, of Bemidji, MN died Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 25, 2022, at the Solway Bible Chapel. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Daniel Ewert was born February 21, 1929, to Robert and Naomi (Warrington) Ewert Sr. on the family farm in Grant Valley Township in Beltrami County, MN. Dan attended a one room country schoolhouse until the eighth grade when his family moved to California during WWII for work. Dan would eventually move back to Bemidji where he met and married Gwen Erickson on June 9, 1949. Dan worked as a logger, farmer, drove logging truck and boiler engineer until the late 1960’s when he established Ewert Concrete Construction. He and Gwen would operate the business until the early 1980’s. Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping eventually acquiring the nickname, Muskrat Dan.

He is survived by son, Dan L. (Darcie) Ewert of Lake Park, MN; daughter, Ruth Ann Ewert of Fosston, MN and 3 grandchildren, Heather Ewert, Fargo, ND; Megan Ewert, Poland and Brett Wawers, Stevens Point, WI; great grandsons, Declan & Rowan. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gwen Ewert; daughter, Catherine Hendrickson; 2 granddaughters, Sara, and Kristin Ewert.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the giver’s favorite charity or contributions to Havenwood Care Center where Dan resided.
