Avis Kelm, 92 of Bemidji, MN died Friday, May 27, 2022 at D & D Caring Hearts Assisted Living Center in Bemidji, MN.
Avis (Vincent) Kelm was born 2/10/1930 in Elgin IL as the 5th child of 12 children born to David and Florence (Annis) Vincent. At age 5 the family returned to Bemidji. She attended Northern Elementary and Bemidji High School. She worked briefly for NW Bell Telephone.
She married Frank Kelm 08/29/1946 in Bemidji. She was a homemaker, but also worked with Frank in the farming and logging business. They had 7 children between 1948 and 1965. She enjoyed gardening and canned hundreds of jars of vegetables, meat and fruit. Flowers abounded in her yard. Her cooking and baked goods were enjoyed by many and there was always room at her table.
She loved to sing, whistle, dance, laugh and spend time with her family. She always had time to hug her kids, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and the great grandchildren. The extended family ties established as a child with cousins remained important to her. She also enjoyed the strong lasting friendships she had with her neighbors. She had a special bond with each of her 8 grandchildren.
Her faith was very important to her and she was a member of the Church of God for more than 40 years.
She moved from her home to D & D Caring Hearts assisted living on 10/1/2021. The family appreciates the care and concern the staff supplied during her stay.
