Myrna Flodeen Waters

On April 27, 2020, Myrna Waters passed away from complications of a stroke in San Antonio, TX. Myrna Waters was born Myrna Marie Flodeen in Blackduck, MN on Oct 7, 1941 to James and Ida Flodeen. She grew up on the farm in Quiring township and moved to “town” when she was 14, and graduated Blackduck High School in 1959. She married Navy sailor Dallas Reed in 1959 and they were stationed in California and Morocco, returning to Kelliher, MN in 1963 and later lived in Washish, MN where they raised 3 children. Dallas and Myrna divorced and Myrna moved to Las Vegas, NV where she met and later married Airforce Sargent Johnnie Waters in 1980. In 1981 they were stationed at Elmondorf Air Force Base, just outside of Anchorage, AK. They lived up there for 28 years before retiring in 2009 in San Antonio, TX. Myrna was an avid member of the United Methodist Church in Anchorage, AK and in Windcrest, TX. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Nothing gave greater pleasure than entertaining and cooking for family and friends. She will be most remembered for her generous heart and opening her home up to many visitors and family alike.

She is survived by her husband, Johnnie Waters, daughter, Lori (Greg) Lent of Mosinee, WI; two sons, Patrick Reed of San Antonio, TX and David (Susan) Reed of Anchorage, AK; 4 grandchildren, Kelly (Brian) Seubert, Darby (Jay) Throne, Tiffany Cox-Ross and Chelsea (Daniel) Gonzales; 7 great-grandchildren and siblings MaryAnn (Richard) Oswell of Cambridge, MN, and Julie (Bernie) Husmann of Wasilla, AK. Myrna is proceeded in death by parents Jim and Ida Flodeen, son, Johnnie Ray, and sister Jeanie Koiman. A private virtual memorial service was held by the family on May 10, 2020.
