Mildred J Peterson

Mildred J (Knol) Peterson, age 92, loving wife and mother of five children went peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, April 18 in Orono, MN, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She is survived by four children, Carl Peterson, Linda (Peterson) Kallberg, Mark Peterson, and Joel Peterson, her sister, Dorothy (Knol) Rex, brother, Robert Knol, 19 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Nellie (Tuitman) Knol, her husband, Robert (Bob) Peterson, her brother, Richard Knol, and her son, John Peterson. Millie was a remarkable wife, mother, musician, and friend. She was highly active in her local church, serving as pianist and organist for the congregation, often providing the accompaniment for special music performed by her children. Her love for Jesus and connection to her local church was evident throughout her life. After a move to Bemidji, MN, in 1971, Millie entered the workforce as a secretary at Oak Hills Bible Institute. She eventually took courses to learn word processing for computers, helping to modernize the communications for the school. She was a close friend and role model to many of the Oak Hills students that worked with her in the office. Bob and Millie retired to Sequim, WA, in 1995. Eventually, Millie moved in with her daughter, Linda, until they all moved back to Minnesota in 2016. Millie was a resident of The Trails of Orono extended care facility until her passing and was well loved by the other residents and staff there. A celebration of Millie’s life will be held Sunday, May 2 at 2:00 pm at Celebration Church, 16655 Kenyon Ave., Lakeville, MN. We welcome friends and family to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be donated to the Trails of Orono and Park Nicollet Hospice. Donations should be sent to PostNet Wayzata, 1250 Wayzata Blvd E, Wayzata, MN 55391 att: Peterson. Please make checks out to Linda Kallberg and the total donation will be split between each organization.
