Marlys Jean Hansen, 82, of Bemidji, MN died Sunday, May 31, 2020 at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

She was born on July 20, 1937, in Clarkfield, MN the daughter of Oscar and Irene (Jacobson) Kise. She was raised and educated in Boyd, MN, graduating from Boyd High School. She moved with a friend to Redondo Beach, CA. She lived there for three years and underwent training for a job with Western Union. She moved to Minneapolis, MN, and continued to work for Western Union. She married Jim Hansen on September 17, 1960 in Boyd, MN, and they lived in nearby Clarkfield on the Hansen family farm. They moved to Montevideo, MN, and spent four years there. In 1979 they moved to Bemidji, MN. Marlys worked at the Bemidji Woolen Mills for years. She was a member of the Bemidji Garden Club, Northern Artists, and a member of the 3rd Street Singers. She was a talented artist and her family treasures her paintings. She loved to be in the kitchen, it was the hub of her home and she was always working on something. She was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed socializing with her friends and playing cards. She was a world traveler, visiting Russia, Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean, and all over Europe. She loved spending time in the sun, enjoying winters spent in Texas with Jim.

She is survived by her: Husband, Jim Hansen of Bemidji,  Children, Doug Hansen of Bemidji,  David (Laura) Hansen of Bemidji,  Deb (Reid) Jurgenson of Dawson, MN,  Dawn Turner of Bemidji,  Grandchildren, Josh, Drew, Lexi, Ty, Nick, Ryan, Heather,  and Katie,  Great-Grandchildren, Austin, Athena, Serena, Eva, and Jordan,  Sister, LeAnn (Ron)Moe of Brooklyn Park, MN,

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
