Josephine “Josie” Rockstead

Josephine (Josie) Roberta Rockstead passed away Thursday, February 18th, 2021, at St Mary’s Hospital, Rochester MN. 

She was born on July 14, 1954, in Bemidji, MN She attended Nebish Elementary School and graduated from Blackduck High School in 1972. She attended Bemidji State University. Josie worked a variety of Jobs from Waitress to Store Manager of Joann Fabrics in Bemidji retiring in May of 2020. 

 As busy as she was at work she always found time to quilt and cross-stitch, was a huge fan of MN Twins Baseball. Josie enjoyed crafts, loved gardening and watching hummingbirds on her feeders. She loved collecting anything with hummingbirds and had an extensive collection of salt & peppershakers from her travels.  Josie most of all enjoyed the annual “Sisters Weekend”. She was an active member of the Nebish Willing Workers Homemakers Club.

Josie is survived by her two sons, Jesse (Pamela) Rockstead of Pelican Rapids, MN and Leland Rockstead of Bemidji, MN; grandchildren, Keelia, Nicholas & Everly. Four sisters - Carol, Frances, Amelia (Gary) and Loretta; four brothers - Peter, Quentin (Corinna), Martin (Mary) and Vincent (Vicki). Many nieces and nephews, and all others who read this.

She was preceded in death by her parents Philip & Lorraine Yerbich and four brothers, Cletus, Sylvester, Stephen and Damian.

A private service for the immediate family will be held on March 6th with a celebration of life and interment later this summer.
