Jolana Hughs

Jolana (Jo) Hughs (Church) is now the angel in heaven that she was here on Earth. She went into the arms of the Lord on October 25, 2020 after a lengthy illness.

She will be remembered by all as a fun loving, hard working, loving, caring Mom, employee, sister, daughter and friend.

Jolana Alice Hughs (Church) was born on September 3, 1960 to Elmer and June (Gibson) Church in Bemidji Minnesota. In her short 60 years, Jo lived in many different places but settled down in the Bemidji area to raise her family. She worked in many local hotels as a housekeeper. Her most recent job was at the Super 8 where she was the Laundry supervisor. She loved her work and kept working long after her illness made it extremely hard to do so. She loved family get togethers, being with friends, going to the casino (occasionally), and spending time with her family. She was an avid collector of Precious Moments and Teddy Bear collectibles. Jolana enjoyed burning candles (until she melted one on her stove) and looking for unique ones at Art fairs.

She is survived by her sons Cody (Marie) Hughs and Drew Church both from Bemidji; her Mother June Church and brothers Rodney Church, Michael Church, and Kevin (Georgia) Church all of Bemidji. Her sister Edris Christians of Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Many nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Elmer Church.
