Jeff Long

Jeffrey John Long, 57, of Turtle River, MN died Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, June 8, 2020 at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Bemidji, MN with Fr. Mike Patnode officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

He was born December 7, 1962 in Bemidji, MN the son of Raymond and Lila (Bauer) Long. When he was a teenager, he enjoyed doing many tasks working for Landreth’s Farm. He graduated from Blackduck High School in 1981. He married Nancy Christenson December 24, 1993 in Bemidji. He worked for a pipeline before working for Thorson, Inc for 12 years. He worked for Bertrand Builders before working for MNDOT for 20 + years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry of all sorts, entertaining, running heavy machinery, landscaping, mowing “acres” of land, keeping his yard and home immaculate, playing poker and cards with family, teaching his kids the value of hard work and doing a great job and how to do everyday chores and activities. He also enjoyed helping friends and family with various projects. He could build or make anything. He took great pride in his family, his work, his home and yard. He loved building fires at the lake, entertaining and grilling for family and friends. He also loved reminiscing of the good old days.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Long of Turtle River, MN; children, Ashley (Dustin Solberg) Long of Bemidji, Alison (Gavin Langhout) Long of Bemidji, and Tony Long of Bemidji, mother, Lila Long of Blackduck, brother, Tim Long of Blackduck, sisters, Debbie (Tracey Joy) Long of Roseville, MN, and Deanna (Craig Nelson) Long of Rancho Cordova, CA, Dustin’s son, Rylie Solberg and numerous other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Long, grandparents, Rose and Earl Bauer and Marcella and John Long, brother, Thomas Long, and father and mother-in-law, Earl and Betty Christenson.
