Janette was born April 6, 1929, in Deer Creek, Oak Valley Township, MN, the daughter of Leon and Tamson (Chase) Hennagir She was raised and educated there, graduating from Deer Creek High School in 1947. She married Kenneth Conner on April 2, 1948, at the United Methodist Church in Wadena, MN.
Janette was a housewife, homemaker, den mother, Sunday school teacher and bookkeeper of the family-owned business of Ken Conner Logging. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Cass Lake. Janette was very hardworking, determined, committed, and devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. All of the family gatherings were hosted by grandma and grandpa in their home. She made it a priority to attend ball games and school activities. Janette loved nature, birdwatching, and hobby farming. She raised horses, chickens, geese, goats, and more. Janette was a Master Gardener; she loved planting, weeding, pruning, and watering her amazing flower garden. Janette was known for her decorated Christmas cookies, cinnamon rolls, and pumpkin pie, as well as beautiful embroidery and crochet work. Janette often spoke in metaphors, “take one day at a time,” “patience is a virtue,” “actions speak louder than words,” boredom is within yourself,” and one that her children often heard “do you have wooden ears.”
Janette had a “wacky” sense of humor that the grandkids loved. Grandma and grandpa’s home is a place the grandkids always want to go and rarely want to leave. Peanut butter jelly sandwiches and Sunny D were a staple in grandma and grandpa’s home.
