James Potts

James Wallis Potts passed away peacefully at his home the early hours of December 4 at the age of 86, Jim was a passionate man who loved God, adored his wife, Joyce and served his country and community with fervor and deep appreciation.

Born in Los Angeles, CA on March 23, 1935, Jim always loved sports. He was an All-State record holder in high school. At Arizona State University, he was a member of the Hall of Fame 1954-55 basketball team. At the University of Nevada, Reno he earned his Bachelor of Sciences in Education. He was hired by Washoe County School District in 1957. Returning to UNR, he earned his Masters Degree in Education in 1965. He continued to serve Washoe County schools until 1989. He met Joyce in 1986, they were married in 1993, together they served with Sowers Ministries for several years, US Forestry Service, finally settling in Bemidji, where Jim continued to serve youth in Special Olympics, substitute teacher, and Assistant Chaplin for BSU Football Teams

Jim is survived by his wife, Joyce, children Andrea Potts and Greg Potts, Vicki & Craig Limbocker, Karen & Greg Claypool, Yvonne & Russ Schoenfelder, Susan & Jim Lundquist, Jim & Kim Westrum. 21 grandchildren, and 41 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a grandchild Travis Claypool.

Memorial Services will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Calvary Chapel, Bemidji
