Gordon “Gordy” Walters, 85, of Bemidji, MN, died Friday, August 28, 2020, at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center in Bemidji.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4pm, Saturday, September 5, 2020, at the Walters’ Home, 602 Woodland Ave SW, Bemidji, MN. Arrangements are with the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

Gordon was born on August 25, 1935, in Bemidji, MN, the son of Joseph and Helen (Lee) Walters. He was raised and educated in Bemidji, attending the Grant Valley School, and Bemidji High School. He attended the Detroit Lakes Technical College and received a degree in Auto Body repair. He married Eleanore Sande on May 15, 1964 in Bemidji, MN. He worked at a number of places in the area, including the David Park Creamery, the Markham Hotel, Dondelinger Chevrolet, Bob Lowth Ford, and tending bar at the VFW, the American Legion, Moose Club, and the Elks Club. He owned and operated Paul’s Body Shop until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the Bemidji Curling Club, the Eagle’s, and First Lutheran Church. He enjoyed coin collecting, cars, guns, and fishing. Gordy adored his wife, sons, grandchildren, and spending time with them at the family hunting cabin.

He is survived by: his Wife, Eleanore Walters of Bemidji, MN,  Sons, Phillip (Linda) Walters of Oshkosh, WI,  Ross (Sharon Swanson) Walters of Bemidji, MN,  Michael (Ruth) Walters of Bemidji, MN,  Grandchildren, Timothy (Nicki) Walters of Fargo, ND,  Kayla (Bill) Winkler of Bemidji, MN,  Jacob Walters of Bemidji, MN,  Emmalee (Adam) Bardwell of Bloomington, IN,  Paul Walters of Chaska, MN,  Keegan Walters of Bemidji, MN,  Ellen Walters of Bemidji, MN,  Great-Grandchildren, Makenna Graske of Bemidji, MN,  James Walters of Fargo, ND,  Gordon Winkler of Bemidji, MN,  Brooklyn Winkler of Bemidji, MN,  Brother, David (Judy) Walters of Coon Rapids, MN  Sister-in-laws, Evelyn Walters of Bemidji, MN,  Alice Erickson of Apple Valley, MN,  Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Marie Brown, Marty Watts, Barbara Julin, and brother Stanley Walters.
